BIOGRAPHY

Dag Tenere (meaning "desert's children" in Tamasheq language) is a collective of Tuareg artists from Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso whose music, strongly influenced by the assouf or Tuareg blues style, also aspires to promote and preserve the culture and traditions of this nomadic people of the Sahara desert, the kel tamasheq, whose history goes back to ancient times.

Created in Niamey in 2016, the band has been a collective of artists since its inception, each contributing their own expertise. Compositions by Goumar Abdoul Jamil (former member of the acclaimed Etran Finatawa) and Ibrahim Ahmed Guita are arranged together. In 2018 the band released its first self-produced album (Timasniwen Tikmawen).

Dag Tenere has participated in several festivals and cultural events in Niger (Rythme du Niger 2017, Centre Franco-Nigérien Jean Rouch 2019, Festival du tendé Afoukada 2019, Sahel Festival & Musiques du Monde 2021) and is preparing a regional tour for 2021 depending on the evolution of the health situation.

On 4 June 2021 Dag Tenere released Iswat, an EP produced thanks to the support of African Culture Fund - ACF.
